The Hong Kong Global Development Prize consists of a HK$5,000 competition open to anyone with an innovative proposal for furthering Hong Kong’s international development efforts and shaping its role on the world stage. At this year’s Sovereign Asian Art Prize in Hong Kong on Saturday, Pakistani artist Sameen Agha’s red marble sculpture called A Home Is a Terrible Place to Love was awarded with the grand prize of $30,000. This work portrays an image of an abandoned home that appears to be crumbling down.

ICAS Book Prize for Global Hong Kong Studies The ICAS Book Prize for Best Article on Global Hong Kong Studies was first created by friends and students of Professor Wang Gungwu in 1996 when they donated generously to establish two prizes at the Department of History to recognize undergraduate and postgraduate students studying this field of research. Under the Sixth Round of Government Matching Scheme, this gift was doubled; its endowment has become permanent through which ICAS Board continues the legacy of this prize awarding its annual prizes to worthy authors in Global Hong Kong Studies studies.
