The Hong Kong Prize (hk Prize) was designed to recognize and promote the achievements of those from Hong Kong. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges; this serves as an incentive to recognize outstanding individuals as well as promote Hong Kong.

In addition to the main prize, the hk Prize will offer sub-prizes in different categories. Winners of these sub-prizes will be announced during an awards ceremony held in Hong Kong with representatives from government and businesses present.

The Hong Kong Prize has been established in order to recognize and enhance the accomplishments of people from Hong Kong while raising professional standards. Individuals or organizations who have made outstanding contributions in terms of scientific research or technological innovation will receive this honorary award. The selection process will be carried out objectively and fairly, awardees must uphold Hong Kong’s Basic Law as well as display high social morality and professional ethics; any breach could see their award taken away; winners will receive certificates, trophies and cash. The award is open to both local and foreign individuals and institutions, who must submit an application prior to its deadline of 31 August 2019 (HK$300 application fee). A judging committee will select its final winner by 31 December 2019, which will then be revealed during February’s results announcement ceremony in May.
